It is a lament people chose
Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) today every Rukminigaon people cry due to rising
water till evening when it rained heavily on 26th Tuesday early morning around
2 am.
Pramod Deka states, "It is
after Himanta Biswa Sarma came into power this area turned like a lake with
rising water from new releases of water to this area." “We thought CM
Himanta's return will be a good choice for the advancement of the area as he
emphasize on technology. But now when the situation in Rukminigaon has turned to
emergency state with rise in water with no quick solution to drain out water immediately
and relief people from sleepless night,” Nilumoni Phukan emphasized.
Hewali Das who was moving out
loads of clothes in a huge bag stated in tearful manner, “The speed of rising
water after the rain is so fast that we could not even move our valuables to
safety. Why this repeated misery on us when rest of the areas in the city do
not face such crisis? We feel the government has left us to hell when the
Centre has aided in so much for flood relief. The government has cheated the
people depriving of their rights to live. Choosing BJP made a blunder."
If the Central government is setting up 'Jal
Shakti Ministry' to set up river basin authorities for flood control then there
should be a 'Shakti' to control waterlogging in the Guwahati city including
major towns like Silchar, Nagaon, Tinsukia and Dibrugarh, Vedanta reacted when
asked on government’s action on flood control.
A silent protest was made by
Rukminigaon people by blocking the main road for one hour where police forces
have to drop in. Protestors stated, “the protest will go more strong if the
government fails to stop backwater issue in the area. It is multiple areas
backwater that is flooding in Rukminigaon. Plus the government has not uplifted
the concrete blockade made in Lastgate to create the Dispur flyover.”
Today Balika Vidyalaya a high
level girls school have to remain shutdown due to flood. Even children cannot
give exams and fail to attend important events in their institutes as they
cannot move out in knee deep water.
On 26th July where rain waters
cleared Rukmingaon was still in deep water till evening. It was late evening
when the councilor moved in with pumps at Manasha Mandir to drive out water in
Bharalu. Engineers Dilip Bora and Akhtar Hussain marked, "On last June massive flood
there was immense cooperation from the Guwahati Municipal Department but it was
a show off to please the public. The only plan that could sort out this issue
is by creating an underground water channel to the adjacent river Bharalu from
Chinaki Path but still no works had been implemented after the flood is over on
June.”
“Assam government has not
implemented funds of the nation virtuously so there is corruption and misery of
the people” stated S. Pathak a senior citizen marking waste of vote with so
much loss to property after Himanta’s regime. Roads had been elevated and
drains widened but waters released from all direction is creating emergency situation
as people cannot keep on constructing higher one’s premises,” S. Pathak with
fury pointed to the government for creating false publicity with noble gesture
to pour in people’s sympathy.
