Shiva Thapa Definitely Need To Crown

Cool and unaffected by his aggressive opponent, not to miss out his knock outs while taking on to dicey ground against Tokyo Olympian bronze medalist Manish Kaushik to come out clean with 5-0 win by Assam’s pugilist Shiva Thapa at 63.5 kg 6th edition Elite Men’s National Championships at Hisar, Haryana.

Manipur Revive Unique Traditional War Game

Cardamon spicy essence when applied to sports interestingly sounds strange, but Manipur has evolved this unique traditional popular war game recognized as ‘Lerii Kaphi’ that was once again revived at Pudunamei village of Senapati district, derived from Mao tribe.  

‘Lerii’ speaks the essence of Himalayan cardamon and ‘Kaphi’ is the striking act with cardamom stem which the Manipur traditional war sport details, ‘Lerii Kaphi.’

Well this traditional war game  ‘Lerii Kaphi’ is not silly stem sport, it hurts with severe cuts on the body of the players. This Mao decedent war game consist of 32 players, divided in two teams who are armed with sharp edge cardamom stems. Chief Minister N Biren Singh on the eve of the revival of the traditional sports, stated to recognize ‘Lerii Kaphi’ as indigenous state game.

Manipur’s much expected win from international champ Saikhom Mirabai Chanu came true as the weight lifter displayed her talent with a finish in gold at 36th National Games in Gandhinagar, Gujarat at 49 kg challenge.

Tally of medals for Manipur in weightlifting is two with inclusive of Kh Sangita Chanu’s silver medal apart from Mira Bai’s final settle in gold.

Mirabai stunned her fans with effortless display of 84 kg in snatch and 107 kg lift at clean and jerk performance which assures brighter spot in international event as her power is doubling then what she earlier delieverd.

Assam Boy Shines In Bronze At UK, CommonWealth Karate

Karate art has been taken on to a serious note in Assam where Hemphu Bongjang brought laurel to home by clinching international title as Commonwealth Karate Championship bronze medalist in its 10th edition conducted in Birmingham, UK.

Though, at junior belt (14-15), Assam’s Hemphu Bongjang was able to make India proud by emerging as a winner in the opening ceremony of Commonwealth Karate Championship, UK; advancing towards 10th World Cadet, Junior and U-21 Karate Championship to be conducted in Turkey. More medals by Hemphu is expected as he has international karate tags in gold and bronze, wore during Thailand International Open Karate Championship 2022.

Assam Swimmer Hits Success At Senior National Aquatic Championship

This is a tremendous effort put on by the Assam swimmers to clinch two medals at the opening ceremony of 75th Senior National Aquatic Championship that was conducted in Guwahati at Sarusajai Stadium which is great pride for state sports.

This jubilation in aquatic sports was settled with one silver and bronze. The mixed 4*50m medley, Assam team comprised of Astha Choudhury, Bhargav Phukan, Jananjoy Jyoti Hazarika and Shivangri Sharma fetched beautifully silver medal.

Lone swimmer to win medal for Assam was Shivangi at 400m freestyle who have to settle for bronze. Suspense of more winners from Assam to escalate at the ongoing 75th Senior National Aquatic Championship in Guwahati at its 3 disciplines like water polo, diving and swimming.

ACA Aims To Make Silchar As The Next Cricket Destination

Assam Electrifying Athlete Cracks 100m National Record

Electrifying 10.25 sec performance at 100mmen’s race by young energetic athlete Amlan Borgohain of Assam has triumphed to break previous national record of 10.26 at the Inter Railway Athletic Championship at Rai Bareli, Uttar Pradesh.

This is a great achievement for Assam sports as the 24 year old athlete Amlan Borgohain was successful to compete in field and track events of 100m and 200m race equivalently, marking great a significance on national sports day.
