It is a great news for Northeast that Manipur outshined India's name at Common Wealth Games by clinching the first gold and silver medals for the nation at weight lifting category.
But what is uncommon at this feat of winning at Birmingham, Common Wealth Games is that Manipuri weight lifter broke record by lifting 88 kg at 49 kg weightlifting. Another young star of Manipur that is Bindyarani a 23 year old female weight lifter clinched silver as she missed four points below her Nigerian competitors by lifting 81 kg.
