Mizoram financial emphasis on settled
farming transformation from the traditional ‘jhum’ cultivation has escalated
far beyond the target of 120,000 families assistance to the present reach of 131,940
families for greater agro output according to Mizoram Governor Lt. Gen. Nirbhay
Sharma.
Farmers of Mizoram still adheres to
unscientific method of ‘jhum cultivation’ which output is not convincing for
economic growth and has encouraged to use New Land Use Policy (NLUP) for financial
support in adapting scientific process of farming.
Concentrating on present circumstance Mizoram
population is highly dependent on agriculture and its current status of agro output
is 33.71 per cent which is not sufficient and need to outgrow as its soil is
rich and water is abundant.
