Manipur today fears tension of
1992-93 ethnic fight scenario with Nagaland’s persistent attempt to block
highways that are the economic backbone of the state where on account of this recently
64 varied local ethnic groups had a session with home minister Rajnath Singh for
speedy recovery over the situation at Joint Forum for Peace.
Centre though has arranged
security measure for safety transportation of goods to Manipur but the people
are streamlined from meeting their required commodities which issue was
forwarded by the 17-member team to Rajnath with a memorandum appealing to end United
Naga Council’s(UNC) ongoing 78-days economic blockade in observance to new district
declaration.
But the reaction from the home
minister is stuck to his former version that it is under State government to
control the line of law and order where conflict has aroused. If state
government was moved by people’s plight then they would not have approached
higher authority where now situation in Manipur is as such that a litre of
petrol has become a pricy matter with escalation from Rs 150 to Rs.300
including scarcity in acquiring essential items to run the house. It seems
Manipur people severely caught in the batting of state and UNC where centre is
expected act as referee to decide who should be out to end this game.
