Meghalaya has potential athletics but without financial and government support most of its youths have to lead a wayward life and end up in anti-social activists which is a major concern to the Sports and Youth Affairs Minister Zenith Sangma and is focusing to bring a change into the scenario through conduct of 2022 National Games.
This announcement of staging 2022 National Games came into public highlight when Minister Zenith Sangma was addressing at Tura in Meghalaya where he informed that its land has been selected by national sports committee for the prestigious event.
Selective destinations for staging this ideal event in Meghalaya are like Tura, Rongram and Jowai where much before the arrival of the grand event 22nd National Games various development process will undertake in the one that is picked by the committee.
The district sports committees will have a crucial role in figuring the adequate budget for infrastructure and development process apart from promotional campaign to conduct this event in grand manner.
It will be great opportunity for Meghalaya to conduct such a grand event where Sangma appealed to the youth to participate to give an edge to it instead of futile pursuit of kidnapping, extortion and killing activities. Moreover Meghalaya has the potentiality to conduct it successfully as it had earlier had conducted the 12th South Asian Games.
