Currently Meghalaya government is leaving no stone unturned
to give dimension to its long term plan to position Shillong as smart city
where Urban Affairs Minister Ronnie Lyngdoh has initiated talks with Union
Urban Development Minister M. Venkaiah Naidu to push further from initial 50:50
to 90:10 funding pattern to execute the project.
It is a huge project to transform present Shillong to smart
city concept where Lyngdoh feels 50:50 funding pattern won’t be enough to
develop drainage system, waste management process including sewerage system
where real estimate will come to Rs 1,500 crore.
