Mystic Kamakhya Concept and Architecture Drags 25 Lakh Pilgrims and Rs 25 Corer in 2016

 

Backbone of Assam’s tourism, the mystic Kamakhya temple worshiped for varied reasons but popular for earth fertility festival (Ambubachi) on every month of June has garnered 25 Lakhs visitors and Rs. 25 corer fund for its development in 2016.

Now that’s the dynamism of this ancient architecture Kamakhya temple built by king Narnarayan, even today this historical pilgrim driving tourists globally in Lakhs each year.

Understanding the necessity the Indian government has decided to sanction Rs 25 corer for the development of its premises to accommodate more people.

The mystery of Kamakhya temple is the emerge of spring from sanctum sanctorum that remains enclosed behind temple doors during the period of Ambubachi menstrual cycle of the earth, identifying to lord Shiva’s consort goddess Parvati.

It is in major attempt to  signify Kamakhya to India’s top pilgrim spot like ‘Tirupati’ of Andhra Pradesh, Chief Minister of Assam, Sarbananda Sonowal a big devotee of Maa Kamakhya proposed the center to make major uplift of the temple with better security and facility arrangement.

Typical about the Kamakhya temple is that it consists of four chambers like garbhagriha, pancaratna, calanta and natamandira. According to the priest of the temple a hollow cave type tunnel links from the inner sanctum known as the garbhagriha to an external pond.

Unusual like other ancient temples of India, Kamakhya does not consist of any idols but

a rock fissure or pancharathaplan, set on plinth moldings, resembling like women’s private organ known as garbha in local dialect.

The garbhagriha chamber is somewhat like blunt rock built structure without fine finish, naturally a stone cut yoni-like depression is based below.This is a narrow dark chamber with steep steps made with narrow size rocks that leads to the10 inches deep sloppy vulva-shaped depression identified as the abode the Goddesses from where constantly a spring of water emerges.
