Maha Shivratri Approach Brings Great Boon To Lord Shiva Devotees

On the third day before the fall of the complete darkness (Amavasya in Hindu context) in the month of Phalgun (Feb-March phase as per Hindu calendar) marks the evolve of Shiva’s energy and unification with his other half (energy parvati his consort) to bring tremendous blessing of love and strength to those who mark this day.

In the entire northeast there are strong centers dedicated to Lord Shiva as this eastern corner of India had earlier intensely followed Shavite culture before adapting to Vishnuvaite culture after Srimanta Sankardev’s era.

Today, Sukleshwar Ghat by the bank of Brahmaputra comes alive with strong buzz of devotees  from all parts of India and Northeast region especially on Mahashivratri that has become major  tourism and business peak in Guawahti capital, Assam.

Shiva is like a sword upon whose meditation during this darkest period of “the third day of Phalgun dark phase” helps one to eradicate evil from the heart and regenerates energy to motivate towards goals and duties of life to deviate from futile lifestyle.

Fasting is observed on this pious day to help connect with truth and ultimate Godhead even to which lord Shiva also keeps meditating. Placing water and moving around the lingam by placing water, milk, bay leaves and sandan paste over the lingam is considered to be very auspicious during this phase of moon waning period of Maha Shivratri.
