First wave of flood have started to affect multiple districts of Assam where ferry services have been suspended and meetings on flood preparedness have been made in Jorhat and Karimganj to tackle untoward incident due to the rising water of rivers.
Karimganj faces threat from Kushiara river along the international border due to heavy rain. Responsibilities imposed on five zones circle officers to arrange for flood rescue and relief works. Flood preparedness will be made as per to the survey of past flood damage.
Assam State
Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) officials inspected the Jorhat flood
prone areas and visited the proposed model camps under the Teok Revenue Circle.
To tackle flood in Jorhat areas have edged all preparedness to control damage
in the flood sensitive areas.
