Yana Nagoba a famous name in national fashion domain had
added another feather to her cap by bringing laurel to India for her costume
creation for a Mumbai Model named Sonali Bhaleraoto representing “Miss Model of
the World 2018” at Shenzen in China that created wave of applause for her
perfect amalgamation of Northeast essence in her work which clinched the prestigious
best National Costume Award.
Derived from a small town of Arunachal Pradesh of Northeast,
India the bundle of creativity Yana had came to Mumbai with a dream to get
better exposure of her talent but never dreamed that she will be touching the
sky with roll of success in her path. Previously this superbly talented designer
of Arunachal was popular in fashion domain of India for her tag of creative
collection “Yana in Style” but now her career has taken to an airlift with an international
recognition.
What’s the magic behind Yana’s quick success at intentional
platform when there were numerous top challenging designers of worldwide to
compete? The answer is in her perfect amalgamation of Northeast’s fabric and
ornament essence of every culture of each state like golden silk Muga and
resilient Eri silk from Assam, pomo fabric from Arunachal and ornament essence
to add unique charm to her costume, derived from artists of Manipur, Nagaland,
Mizoram, Tripura, Sikkim and Meghalaya who had specially hand crafted as per to
her requirement.
Interestingly it is the modern evolution of Yana’s lehenga
and choli concept that drew judges’ attraction as it was specially woven from
Arunachal’s Ahimsa silk which was dyed in black, white and red colour by its
Nyishi’s tribe. Today, the 28 year old young designer of Arunachal is not
creating waves in India but creatively weaving Northeast state’s cultural
essence with amalgamation of other traditional dress codes in worldwide.
Drawing attention from worldwide fashion domains, creating a
sense of respect for the flavors of various Northeast tribe’s traditional
fashion codes that had remained dormant for so many years by Yana.
