Abhiyan the maternal scheme was first launched and now expectant at large had
come with hope during Meghalaya launch in East Khasi Hills.
In the wake of higher MMR (Maternal Mortality Deaths) deaths in
Meghalaya, the Governor V Shanmuganathan on July 9th, Saturday
stated, “The State Government is making all attempt,” after inviting people
from all sectors like social and religious bodies, youth groups, stake holders
and general mass to come forward to save the future of the state by securing the
life of the expectant.
Special arrangement was done on the PMSMA launch in Megahalaya so
that the expectant who had come to attend are availed with free pre & post
natal medical check-up. In observation to resume free medical camp on the 9th
of every month for the expectant, Al Hek, Meghalaya Health Minister emphasized
that ante-natal check-ups are essential to ensure safety of the mother and
child.
