First Time in Northeast a state has decided to stall a governing body like Imphal Municipal Corporation (IMC) which is the essence in keeping the system of the regional function normal but on the contrary the Manipur governor has suspended its operation after detecting faults beyond compromise.
It is not for a week but for six months the Imphal Municipal Corporation function has been ordered to be stalled immediately without any further time notice till they detect the causes of financial discrepancy and authorities responsible for misuse of power.
Confirmation of suspension came when the state authority detected irregularities in fund usage when on 14th January the local Fund audit report was submitted by the corporation. The Municipal Administration, Housing and Urban Development (MAHUD) who after a cross check of the submitted report unable to relate properly the terms of financial expenditure by the authorities of the corporation.
In addition MAHUD finally had to decide with the governor of Manipur to suspend the body as apart from financial misuse there was detection of violation of rules by the corporation authority that are against Municipal Act.
