God’s Messenger Falls Into Trouble At Tamelang, Kohima!


Nature has its own aspect and one of its unique aspect is witnessed at the Doyanng lake of Tamelong in Kohima where from Mongolia further beyond the boundary of India in Northern east region from which flocks of birds migrate and precious Amur Falcon termed as God’s Messenger came to a threat call with four shot down by the poachers.


Eagle’s breed the Amur Falcon from Mongolia is colorfully very attractive small bird is a great favorite for the locals as they would like to breed them to eat crop insects, for meat and sport purposes. 


This type of migratory bird which traverses from its original place to fly to great distance down the east Asia of Nagaland to Myanmar is to escape from the approach of November cold. Now the Kohima’s wildlife security is quite agitated with the consecutive death reports of the falcon as its hampers state’s ecotourism. 


The forest department of Tamenglong has carried out a door to door campaign to secure the ecosystem and stop migratory bird from falling into prey of poachers. Even experts in wildlife protection sectors have dropped in to secure these flocks of migratory bird. Hi-tech GPS satellite tags are tucked in the body of the falcon to understand their behavior and to detect poacher’s activities.
