Nature
has its own aspect and one of its unique aspect is witnessed at the Doyanng
lake of Tamelong in Kohima where from Mongolia further beyond the boundary of India
in Northern east region from which flocks of birds migrate and precious Amur
Falcon termed as God’s Messenger came to a threat call with four shot down by
the poachers.
Eagle’s breed the Amur Falcon from Mongolia is colorfully very
attractive small bird is a great favorite for the locals as they would like to
breed them to eat crop insects, for meat and sport purposes.
This type of
migratory bird which traverses from its original place to fly to great distance
down the east Asia of Nagaland to Myanmar is to escape from the approach of
November cold. Now the Kohima’s wildlife security is quite agitated with the consecutive
death reports of the falcon as its hampers state’s ecotourism.
The forest department
of Tamenglong has carried out a door to door campaign to secure the ecosystem
and stop migratory bird from falling into prey of poachers. Even experts in
wildlife protection sectors have dropped in to secure these flocks of migratory
bird. Hi-tech GPS satellite tags are tucked in the body of the falcon to
understand their behavior and to detect poacher’s activities.
