Golaghat district of Assam caught in a controversial climax
point of ‘crime ahead of justice’ with recent case of suspected bribe from
female liquor bar owner of Rs 25,000 according to excise official report.
The female liquor bar owner who was instructed by Jiban
Phukan, the Golaghat Excise Superintendent An Assam excise superintendent order
to shift the bar as per to Government court order, later pressurized her to pay
Rs 25,000 as she did not hinder to him
and instead moved ahead for Supreme court appeal with futile result.
In another twist an IAS officer was also involved into this
controversial circuit of bribery enforce case by excise duty officials which
was later passed as a rubbish accusation by the IAS officer, serving as deputy
commissioner (DC) of Golaghat district.
To investigate on this matter the vigilance and
anti-corruption bureau had grilled Phukan for inquiry and was produced in a
Guwahati court against bribery accusation made by Barnali Deka, to which the
convict had to state that he was conspired on false charge and added, “I am a
victim of a conspiracy. The DC demands Rs 20,000-30,000 to clear a file.”
According to Phukan though this lady made several attempts
to move her file ahead to the excise superintendent and the DC but ended with
futile result and on to which he asked her clearance amount of Rs 30,000 which
incited her to approach the anti-corruption bureau.
