Demonetisation and digital mode of payment had given enough pain to the tea workers but now government of Assam plans to boost their strength by installing skill development centers and shelter for them at tea estates.
Tea production counts on state's economy where Assam tea workers are the invisible backbone due to which Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal has announced transform of 71 inactive skill centers to fully operational skill development centers to bring out the talents of its offspring.
The Labour Department has been directed to complete this project by constructing modalities in 71 existent skill centers to give it a transformed look to help youths to develop their in order to make them suitable for various jobs.
To initiate this development scheme the Chief Minister Sonowal had exchanged ideas with the Central Committee members of Assam Tea Tribe Students Association. Futuristically Sonowal marked that to materialize this project a blue print on structure design of skill centers will be processed very soon to ensure justified return for tea workers’ contribution in tea productivity as per to Central and state government scheme layout.
To initiate this Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana scheme an MoU between Panchayat and Rural Development and Tea Garden Management will be inked.
