200-Bedded Super Specialty Hospital Launched Under Gauhati Medical To Combat Cancer


Cancer figure has far exceeded with register of 90,000 cases on it in Assam within last five years’ span where an investment of Rs 85.78 crore was made to launch this 200-bedded super specialty cancer hospital under Gauhati Medical College to combat the fatal disease.


The Union Health Minister on the launch of this special cancer care and diagnosis center  headed under GMCH supervision was happy to announce that this advance measure in health sector has been first time initiated by the government.


To further boost this autonomously administered institute the government will initiate the centre to fund additional Rs 120 crore at its second phase construction. Entire North East region will be benefited by this latest PET-CT (Positron Emission Tomography-Computed Tomography) scan machine and Cobalt therapy machine equipped Cancer center of Assam as instead of paying extra outside people will procure the best treatment with ease.



The infrastructure of this cancer center enhanced with advanced technology based equipment includes even linear accelerator (LINAC) for functional ease and patient’s convenience.
