Economically Afflicted Arunachal Pradesh, JAS A God Sent Scheme


First state to inaugurate Jan Aushadhi Store (JAS) in North East, under BJP Government’s mission Pradhan Mantri Jan Aushadhi Yojana (PMJAY) is a god sent on time scheme according to Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Prema Khandu.


Flood and other natural calamities have taken a heavy toll on Arunachal people’s health where at right time under Pradhan Mantri Jan Aushadhi Yojana scheme the Jan Aushadhi Store was recently activated by Khandu at Tomo Riba State Hospital in Naharlagun.


The Health Department of state which the chief minister handles had stated the scheme is a boon to the people who can access better health care services without travelling outside as now generic medicines will be provided at an affordable ranges.


JAS campaign is headed by the department of Pharmaceuticals under the union ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers and BPPI to enable people to secure generic medicines from CPSUs and suppliers with NABL certification for maintaining safe and quality drugs supply.


Under this scheme all categories therapeutic medicines and 361 drugs will be availed in Jan Ausadhi stores so that NGO’s welfare works are not hampered according to Khandu.

Even a poor state like Arunachal can avail medicines at door steps. The union budget is not enough where central intrusion is important to undertake such welfare schemes to boost health of this Northeast region.
