Manipur Govt and DCI Signifies Handloom Sector As State's Economic And Employment Power

In the recent 2nd Edition National Handloom Day, devised by Manipur Government and the Department of Commerce and Industries signified this traditional profession as state's economic and employment booster.


This Handloom Day observed at Manipur Film Development Society (MFDS) campus was graced by honorable Manipur's Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh to highlight the growing importance of hand-loom and its pivotal role in boosting employment and economy of the State.


Chief Minister Ibobi emphasized professionals and entrepreneurs to step up to boost hand-loom industry to meet the ends of growing customer's demand with quality output and avoid imported yarns usage. So that increase production demand helps broaden employment opportunities.


Govindas Konthoujam, Manipur Minister of Commerce and Industries on this occasion emphasized that the ancient art of producing textile materials should be followed to retain cultural identity and beauty. Foreign nation tourists are captivated by Manipur's traditional textile output as it is environment friendly and attractive.



Manipur is recognized nationally for its credential effort in retaining and outgrowing quality hand-loom products, boosting cottage industries and maintaining ecological standards that make it a favorable tour destination for ideal hand-loom shopping. In the future there are greater possibilities of improving hand-loom and handicraft products with Manipur Government's initiative to install North Eastern Textiles Promotion scheme.
