Things are quite obvious to happen in Assam which is the next big destination for Durga Puja festival as initiated by West Bengal to authorize women pundits for the complete course of puja.
It is after the death of highly recognized male priest this surprising decision was taken by 66 pally puja committee and would continue in the future with public support. The appointed four are just not fully learned pundits in holy scriptures but also professors where according to the Durga puja committee it is time for a change to grant a qualified priest without objection to gender base.
In Assam women has strong role in erecting and circulating Durga puja rituals
in numerous but never attempted to head such conduct, believing inauspicious.
