Two states influencing in organic way in northeast under the
initiative of NESFAS which is into the spread of organic cultivation projects
in Nagaland and Meghalaya to empower potentially the economy of 130 villages of
it.
In the recent one-day fair by North East Slow Food and
Agrobiodiversity Society (NESFAS) at Tura, Meghalaya was successful to
captivate a strong crowd from 15 villages of Garo Hills itself including rest and
the reason simply lies in its extensive display of locally produced extensive fruits,
spices and vegetables items of high nutrient content.
NESFAS is quite influential in this economic drive as local
bodies of unemployed groups from these two states are coming up with plans based
on the similar tactics to boost especially the underprivileged people
economically where Shillong is already on the mark.
Theme purpose of NESFAS is to carry out healthy lifestyle by
boosting organic productivity or fertilizer free agro-production by reviving
and enhancing traditional food generating process to help sustain under
economically weak situation. Revolutionize the agro market by enhancing
nutritious, secure and sustainable food processing in these two regions which have
potential quality soil to deliver natural consumable items.
Moreover Northeast is developing its mark in delivering
export quality products for various global destinations and there lies further
opportunities to grow this market with central’s lucrative scheme
implementation. Indeed NESFAS is playing a crucial role boosting people to
sustain under all the challenges of adverse climatic conditions.
