MUDA Building Bye Laws To Encompass Entire Meghalaya On High Court’s Fresh Order

Previously only to urban areas and census towns the MUDA laws was applied by the State government as the rural areas were ensured with separate set of building bye laws but now under new High Court order to all it will be applied except only to non-municipal areas.

KHADC petition against MUDA issues is terminated presently where other matters are allowed to be probed but only in an appropriate forum for proper proceedings according to the Court.

MUDA laws will persist in all the areas of Meghalaya on the contradictory of Shillong Cantonment Board’s raise of issue. The court has ordered to the Shillong Cantonment Board that in the range of its areas there should not be any overlapping of the building Regulations/Bye Laws. Apart from that there are many issues on the ground of loose soil that causes landslides and high seismic activity zones to fit in MUDA laws sanctioned for the Master Plan areas and targeted zones for government schemes.
