In the awake to globalize Assam and ease air network the Chief Minister Sarbananda
Sonwal along with Minister of State for External Affairs V K Singh have decided to
set up nine Passport Seva Kendras in the state.
According to Chief Minister Sarbananda, Assam has greater potentiality to
become a gateway to South-East Asia afte multiple developments of route and business
networking in Northeast regions with border nations where strategies are being
initiated by the government to materialize the dream by implementing the Act
East Policy.
Act East Policy is to enhance economic and cultural ties for strengthening
international border nation relationship according to Chief Minister Sarbananda.
According to Assam Government's official release the Minister of State for
External Affairs V K Singh has declared to position multiple new Passport Seva
Kendras at state's District Head Post Offices in Tezpur, Lakhimpur, Nagaon, Dibrugarh, Dhubri,
Goalpara, Silchar, Kokrajhar and Diphu which will be managed by the MEA
personnel and Postal department staff supported by TCS technical support team.
