Namkalong of Tamenglong district is a familiar place for Manipur Deputy
Chief Minister Gaikhangam who after the escape from local militant engineered ambush
attack related his flashback of fear when serving in this region as elected
tribal representatives as once he was pressurized with dire consequence to sign
on Naga unification memorandum.
This time as a Deputy CM , Gaikhangam is more horrified about Namkalong ambush
attack where even after tough security arrangements one of his security man had
to bear bullet injury though he still managed to attend the election meeting at
Khoupum.
It must be destiny that drove him to his destination unhurt where he was supposed
to address in a meeting at Khoupum even after the spree of bullet attack on his
cavalcade at two places in Namkalon at around 10.30 a.m.
In
this battle with local militant Gaikhangam had to face one setback as one of
his police commando named Y. Dinesh of Thangmeiband was injured with bullet at
the lower limb.
