If Manipur Had Been Inspired By Moirangthem Loiya Then Centre Would Not Have Declared Drought Hit


Manipur’s Moirangthem Loiya, a Manipuri environmental activist has suddenly has become new inspiration of state’s future by marking plantation of 250 saplings in 300 acre plot at Punshilok forest in Langoi hill range when nation go alarm with its present drought hit phase. 


Today Manipur’s Moirangthem Loiya’s forest covers 25% bamboo species of plants as it creates a homely environment for numerous species of fauna. 


Childhood inspiration to keep in close contact with nature has helped the Manipuri nature lover Moirangthem to understand the language of forest’s requirement that enabled him to educate people on how falling of trees due to human intervention could affect the present human livelihood. 


As it is due to nature we live not nature because of us as famous saying goes Moirangthem tried his best to motivate farmers and general people to plant to preserve nature as what drought extremity that Manipur is undergoing due to barren hilltops.


Even the Central government is incumbent to declare Manipur as drought hit as request forwarded by the Agri, disaster management and the state government after thorough assessment that 70 blocks of it requires attention.


A special survey team has been arranged by the government to make physical inspection of its 10% affected region. On a recent drought session held by the Manipur CM Biren Singh it has been analyzed that bout 50-60% areas of Manipur is affected by drought which could be stated as a biggest state disaster according to the Department of Relief and Disaster Management crew.
