Assam record to have the highest figure of
cancer patients in entire Northeast and in the urge to control the toll of
deaths effectively the latest technology PET-CT Scan machine was recently
launched for early detection of the disease by the Government authority.
This major health plan to equip present
Guwahati Medical College Hospital with sophisticated tool like PET-CT Scan
machine and 200 beds was accomplished by inaugurating this special cancer
division by Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal and Health Minister Himanta
Biswas.
It is in the attempt to provide the best
service at a cost effective price to the public for such major fatal disease
like cancer that is affecting lakh in NE, expensive tools and beds were
arranged in Medical College according to the State Health and Family Welfare
minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. PET-CT Scan installation is a costly matter to
cut cost of lives for NE cancer detected patients.
In entire Northeast this is the first
government hospital to formulate such sophisticated cancer specialty division
to meet the demands of the public. In government’s health category this
initiative is recognized to be the first major successful attempt after 100 days
of a new government in Assam.
Prior modification of this cancer section
in the state's Medical College, assessment by the government's health
department was made to meet the best diagnostic treatment, due care and
excellent safety measures in Assam according to Sonowal.
In this noble venture to save lives and
give hope to the living this PET-Scan costly initiative was taken for greater
mankind service as people under financial stress in Northeast can do the
treatment here instead of confronting higher expenditure outside.
Presently Assam alone has 25,000 newly
detected cancer cases and there are many complicated diseases troubling health
of the state due to which the government is planning to deck up Gauhati Medical
College Hospital to give it a transform look as National Institute of
Excellence. In addition to far reach health ultimatum in the state the
Government is planning for phase layout of medical colleges in various
districts like Barpeta,Tezpur, Jorhat and Silchar. PET-CT Scan installation is a costly matter to
