Flood Victims of 1,206 Villages & 14 Districts of Assam Provisioned with House and Fast Rescue


At such unpredictable state of flood and erosion in Assam the Chief Minister Sarbanada Sonowal has initiated with 20 plus houses to the stranded, sophisticated medium for fast evacuation, food and medicine provision.


After China’s grim state now neighbor Assam is gripped in the fear of heavy loss due to growing scenario of flood, erosion and landslide. India’s worst hit flood region Assam estimated to grip 15 Lakh plus people. According to the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) report  over 50,000 people in 130 villages of Lakhimpur,   1.1 lakh plus people in 182 villages of  Jorhat district,  1.05 lakh people in Dhemaji district and 80,000 plus people in Barpeta districts are under the grip of flood havoc which can cross further if water in Brahmaputra do not recede.


Lodging for open air stranded victims of flood is primary concern as they can succumb under waterborne diseases. In major low lying areas water level have rose to knee levels where villagers have make rafts out of wood, bamboos and banana tree to shift their belongings.
Considering into crucial matter like lapse in control of disease outbreak, livestock, medicine supply, food provision, evacuation and shelter to the flood affected victims the Chief Minister Sonowal had online live interaction with the deputy commissioners of each flood affected districts to probe into the situation.


 According to Keshab Mahanta, the water Resource Minister, Assam emphasized on twin measure for flood and erosion with the help SDRF’s (State Disaster Response Force) financial aid. Relief materials like food, medicines and relief camps are arranged in many parts flood affected areas of Assam by the joint effort of SDRF and NDRF National Disaster Respond Fund. 


Automatic water level controllers have been implemented to monitor fluctuating flow of water, the Central Water Commission officials added, “We are using fully automatic water level controller with up and down tank sensor to measure depth of water, used during October month.”

Sonowal has intensified flood relief action with fast measures like deploy of helicopter Mi- 17 of Indian air force and advance light helicopter of Indian army aviation to mentor, fast evacuation of the trapped, medical aid and food supply. Expertise in rescue operation like naval divers of Indian navy are deployed to petrol on near drowned condition with no raise level to shelter and fast medical aid service. Monsoon has taken to a new turn where now it depends on medical, shelter and evacuation measure to control the condition of the affected.
