FDA Approved, Free TB Medicine in Northeast


The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved TB medicine Bedaquiline will be availed in Assam, Northeast at free of cost to the patient with muti-drug-resistant tuberculosis.

First initiative was taken in Northeast to launch the Bedaquiline, TB medicine in India before distributing it to other medical outlets apart from Assam.

Free diagnostic and treatment service will be assisted to the people by medical care units under the Revised National TB Control Programme (RNTCP) including free distribution of the TB medicine.

People having TB symptoms like frequent cough for two weeks followed with additional signs like excessive sweat, inflammation of the body and loss of weight are cautioned by Health Services, Assam not to neglect and take the privilege of the program.
