This is a tragedy instead that the main networking route to the rest of Upper Assam and Northeast States from Jorabat highway stages such a pathetic condition in one spell of heavy rain downpour where recently on 26th August, Tuesday due to a driver’s folly a filled passenger night bus got plunged into its neck deep water in evening hours.
It is mainly due to
deforestation which is creating this strange situation as due to incessant rain the surrounding
hill’s water gets logged in this highway. Creates a form of a mini lake where in the wee hours of night many accidents an drowning cases had occurred.
May be the highway before its construction was in a low lying position due to which a heavy spell of shower
brings the area in a neck deep water, misguiding travellers as few inches deep
water logged road. If not for regional Assam police station officials and
public help then it would have been a hell like experience for the small
children and moms inside the bus.
The bus trapped in
Jorabat flooded highway gave trapped mothers and children a difficult time to
get out of the neck deep water as they could barely walk properly. There were about
30 trapped passengers inside the ill fated bus who after a hard combat were
able to come across to the safety zone.
