Weavers of Assam are busy producing weaving item like traditional light weight decorative mutipurpose Gamocha scarf or towel that you would like to term for gifting, welcoming and sporting it during festive mood of Magh Bihu 2017 that begins during Sankranti time of every new years on the second week.
Motifs of Gamocha traditionally inspired from nature like flora and fauna. Structural designs Gamocha like Cat paw on below first image, swan with lotus on second image and lion, peacock and floral imprints on third image are finely woven on the Gamocha. Butterfly, elephant, peacock, swan and lion are popularly used animal motifs on Gamocha.
Even classic traditional geometric motifs of Gamocha are like dhar phul means river current, golpata means necklace, gamkharu means broad metallic bracelet, mokardama means symbol of success and pakhila phul means floral type butterfly design still reign to be popular and attractive in today’s trend.
