Deepor Beel is a vital part of Kamrup eco-system which natural green habitat is a home to numerous rare species and help keep the area pollution free where installation of its first rail track was objected by its localities way long back but now diversification of the old track to avert train accidents due to animal trespass over its track gave the Indian Railway a strong blow of objection.
The main objection of the localities is that the tunnel track diversification by the Indian Railway through a hill will obstruct elephant’s passage and would divert the flock through village corridor. Fearing growing elephant menace in all parts of Assam the localities chased away the three members team of officials from Railway, forest and revenue who came to sit for an inspection meet on the new track alignment.
