Assam Government To Release 7580.51 Corer Fund And Process New SODP Flood Recovery Initiative

The state Assembly recently passed “The Assam Appropriation (No III) Bill, 2019, which is to bring in effect the proposed 7580.51 corer financial grant to recover from state’s flood damage where initial roll of Rs. 521 crore to start off for repair process in new mode without relying on particular force as works ahead lie is major.

For the first time flood damage repair process will be initiated through State Own Priority Development (SODP) financial account where in this process new strategy will be implemented to improve on various flood factors so entrusting only on SDRF to handle the major repair work won’t be justifiable at the present challenging phase according to the government.

Out of 521 financial release the Water Resource Department had schemed out 200 corer financial advantage to improve on modern researches and implementation of technique to confront growing flood water issues. Rest Rs. 300 corer is set for futuristic plan progress.

Current focus of the government is to shift diversification of repair work instead of investing energy and money in both breached areas and damaged embankment repair as it will be wise to strengthen only the later damage recovery. Since embankment is the main security line due to which the possibility of breaching will end to an extent. Thus the government thinks it is the most sustainable idea to withstand flood damages. It is the SOPD group to undertake this project that would worth Rs. 1 crore for per km repair of an embankment.
