Assam of Northeast, India is a boon place with many natural resources where ne w technological initiative by the Sarbananda Sonowal government of the state to emphasis fishery production could position it as one of the lucrative global market destination.

Recently from entire Northeast, Assam has been selected by the center to undertake its central government project on ornamental (export quality) fishery development where Chief Minister Sonowal is quite positive of its outcome result with implementation of the latest scientific technologies to improve production technique including greater revenue.

If large water bodies of Assam are turned to fishery centers then it has the potentiality to become as India’s biggest destination for fish market business on various products. Currently Sonowal’s government has appointed 32 skilled junior engineers at fish department to play as influential role in boosting fish market on which state’s economy is dependant.

Fish market has influential impact in Assam’s economy as its quality is highly demanding where according to CM’s Samagra Gramya Unnayan Yoja (CMSGUY) about Rs. 33,000 crorer will be sanctioned with aim of procuring 20,000 metric tonne production as per to 2017-18 budget plan.

Today Assam plays as a key player in influencing fish market in Northeast as its Barak and Brahmaputra are considered to be the potential sources for its harvest. Current objective of Sonowal government is to emphasis on research sector to emphasis on giving an edge to ornamental fishery market and provide support to successful producers so that they can participate in South East Asian market to enhance sales network and compete with competitors.
