NRC Assam Progress Insight by New BJP-Led Govt

After Congress the BJP led Assam Govt again reopens the NRC chapter and all set to place its existing data reports under scan to estimate forged registration.


During Congress regime multiple cases of forgery has come to the light after the close scan of the registered NRC documents. There about 137 cases of forgery cases detected after a close scan where Nalbari district had highest rates followed by Barpeta, Dhubri, Cachar, Bongaigaon, Kamrup , Karbi Angliong and Darrang districts of Assam .


According to NRC Coordinator the scanning process will be carried faster for those documents issued outside the State. It is in the best interest of the existent genuine citizens, Hajela added that the matter will be produced in the Supreme court to sanction fast verification process for outside NRC documents. 

In context to funding for this process, State Government Secretary Prateek Hajela added, “NRC Assam has sought a total funding of Rs. 793 corer for the updation process where excluding Rs. 4 Lakh from total Rs. 288.18 corer sanctioned by the central government has been spent.”
