Arunachal Pradesh’s Indigenous Fabric Pattern Is Now a Fashion Statement


Rich in varied quality textile materials with exclusive evolution in traditional pattern the  Arunachal Pradesh tribes like Galo, Aaji, Apatani, Tagin Nyishi and Adri works have hit the fashion in road with its exclusive display at Enigmatic East Show Cum Exhibit from Zero to Infinity.


Backed by Sandhya Raman with support of Arunachal Pradesh State Weavers Co-op Federation organization this mega textile event was staged in the state for the first time with her three decades of nationwide experience in traditional weaves revival with two years research on state’s textile including handloom sectors.


It is in retention and greater exposure of Arunachal’s varied tribal weavers’ exclusivity to mix and match colorful pattern for beautiful fabric production. Plus to revive state’s natural gift of unique fiber resources under one roof show by textile expert Raman.


This professional textile revivalist cum an exhibit curator Raman who had remained as a consultant with Arunachal’s Weavers Federation for years was surprised to discover that the vibrant patterns of state’s weavers were made with simple mobile back strap handloom technique without any precision of complex modern weaving tool that is par above modern fashion concept.
