Rhino Has Become An Attraction Of Their Own Death, Adding Toll To 17 In 2016

Poaching in Kaziranga National Park (KNP) is not an uncommon factor but robbing out its beauty by bringing death to this unique rare one horn species Rhino has triggered tension in Assam Wildlife sector as their figures are declining and may soon become extinct from the scenario.

Adding toll to 17 in 2016 itself with another Rhino shot to death by AK-47 gun at Tunikati forest camp in Burhapahar Range of KNP has added suspicion to the forest official to be a criminal network of neighboring district Karbi Anglong hill’s poachers.

Before bringing down the Rhino with fully grown horn, about three shots were made as three cartridges from AK-47 were recovered from the sight of the carcass. But why this mishap occurred even after the government arrangement of sophisticated ammunition for foresters on patrol against poachers. This way a Rhino will attract more deaths due to its prized piece horn if poachers have smarter ways to rule its game in its zone.
