Assam Smart Police Really Smart?

No doubt Assam Police has edged itself technically to emerge as top 10 states in carrying out intense operation like Criminal Tracking Network (CCTNS) and Centre's IT-aided Crime but are they prepared to take over growing challenges that are slowing down their effective output?

Tech bug of Assam police for digital crime combat had certainly drew attention at 2016 DGP/IGP conference in Hyderabad but is there an environment purely dedicated to enhance their performance where there is no interruption while using digital signature , fast net access, accurate TV coverage, prompt forensic report and drone facility for effective crime control?

Here is what state police from experience thinks that by being proficient IT-enabled service provider does not seal positive expectant result from them always as the above factors have been frequent interruption to provide desired output.

The broadband Internet department of BSNL as per to their commitment has failed in their service of providing stable said speed as per their package for proper function of state security system. Today is a digital world if the provider disrupts services at required time then how Assam Police can stay to Smart operation theme? This is an unnoticed problem which police department of Assam counteracts where in internet connectivity for digital processing of crime control in 374 stations of the state have been activated. According to the police official such problem can be averted in the future if optical fibre cable network implemented for uninterrupted digital processing.

Fast FIR process through online with digital signature will be a major relief to the citizen and police’s effective and speedy operation. But is yet to popularize in the society but proper CCTV footage is a big issue as 2011 installed 290 instruments had lost connectivity from cameras to the server. Insufficient professional drone expertise in police department is also another current hurdle for covering accurate footage of crime rates in certain areas.

Active participation from rent dealers and employers in providing documents about tenant and employee background is also less in figures due to which fast tracking process gets abrupted even though the police department is empowered with digital power.
