Meghalaya's Seasonal Fruit Sohphie Is Rich With Extreme Medicinal Values


Sohphie Is a rich nutrient fruit which growing shades tells different stages of tastes. Sight of this tennis ball sized fruit with shades of reddish green and sometimes deep tinge reddish and purple signifies the approach of spring to relish the sweet and sour moment of nature.


In India Sohphie is called in different names and found in varied shapes but it has rich medicinal values like anti-allergic, anti-oxidant, anti-inflammatory, dysentery cure, indigestion cure, mutipe stomach issue cure and anti-diabetic qualities that makes it a valuable fruit. Locals makes best pickle out of it by mixing it with bamboo shoots, pepper and bhut jolokia with mix of oil and salt simply. 


Duration of the fruit after being plucked is three days so people prepare as delicious jam and jelly from it to enjoy its taste for long duration though miss having exciting juicy and crunchy bite.
