Assam tea cultivators are open to major option to cultivate Agarwood tree for precious scent production to a limited 5% area of a legally owned tea estate land.
The total cost in nurturing Agarwood trees in ten years will be Rs. 1, 19, 57, 600 including fixed consultation fees (Rs. 2, 00, 000) with inoculation cost (2,500 per tree).
Eleven years full grown Agarwood tree injected with fungus will bear net profit of Rs. 9, 60, 2, 400 from earning of Rs. 10, 80, 00, 000 where in comparison to fresh tea cultivators within that span of time could earn only Rs. 29, 07, 000 profit. It is indeed a great margin of profit the Tea planter could gain if it is used for duet purposes.
