Assam tea garden to grow Agarwood
tree to produce simultaneously perfume along with tea powder at better deal as
there are ready good customers from Muslim nations who create special organic
perfume that has high demand in domestic and international market.
It is in the strategy to survive
loss during extreme flood phase the tea planters of Assam has thought of
planting Agarwood which has been legalized by the government recently
understanding the current phase of devastation caused by the incessant rain.
Earlier plantation of Agarwood was non-permissible because of its capability to
produce rare organic scent due to the benevolence of an insect that creates
fungus.
But now the scenario has changed
the farmers do not go for traditional process which is slow and so infuse in
the Agarwood tree with particular fungus through artificial injection. This
fungus is known as ‘Sanchi Vecur’ which is inoculated earlier in the tender
plant so that the scent production matures faster and enhance delivery to the client
on time. This innovative idea credit goes to Jehirul Islam who fought to
commercialize Agarwood plantation which government did not approve initially.
