Salbari Hilly Area, Guwahati Poses Acute Drinking Water Shortage


Under growing environmental challenges in this hilly Salbari point of Guwahati capital city that is surrounded by hills, president of the Salbari Kendriya Unnayan Samiti, Jiten Patgiri protested on acute water shortage in the area as the people had to depend natural springs as there are no big water reservoirs.


Since there are limited water alternatives for the Salbari area people Jiten Patgiri urged the State government to initiate better water alternatives in the area as the residents are under extreme water shortage due to which has to take deep water boring that can affect natural water production in the future.


People of Salbari area that is adjacent to the Guwahati Refinery campus for decades was not categorized under drinking water supply network by the State government  but with growing population  the matter has become crucial and cannot rely on natural resources as its water outflow has receded.
