Citizenship Bill Does Not Provide Immediate Nationality



Agitated people in today’s protest march against the implementation of the clause of entry of the persecuted foreign nationality Hindus on the religion ground in Indian zone in the Citizenship Bill, 2016 by the centre, crowded with more than 5000 plus at Latasil field, Guwahati with march from Silkpukhuri on Wednesday, 23 January.

Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal mentioned that immigrants from border nation will not be provided with immediate issue of citizenship rights without prior verification on certain set of norms as per to the constitution.

Showed displeasure on the involvement of students in the present agitation against the bill, Assam’s CM Sonowal directed through video conference to the state institutes’ authority to lock the gate of the premises once all the students makes entry.

As per to the norms of Clause 6 implemented by the central government in the Citizenship Bill that was passed on 8th January at the Lok Sabha declared that the non-Muslim immigrants from Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan will be provided with citizen rights only after six years stay in the nation without prior produce of legal documents.

Assam protesters made agitation on futuristic ground that the accepted outsiders may not respect the ideology of the present state and may later throw tantrum towards the system when they are empowered.

Under constitutional law, immigrant applicants will have to apply to the particular district's deputy commissioner who after review will forward it to the authority empowered with the right to sanction of Indian nationalist.
