Nagaland Farmers Are Clueless On Govt’s Big Pig Move Worth Rs.200 Crore!!

Nagaland’s pig Farmers Association is clueless as to what has made the Government to initiate this big Pig move of rupees 200 corer import in big scale from outside destination like Punjab.

Currently along with the Nagaland Farmers Association in pig business the State Animal Husbandry, Veterinary Services Department and Chakhesang Oublic Organisation (CPO) groups are making a joint effort against the government’s big pig move when there is enough local sources to procure meat and varied products from it.

Farmers are in the demand to know clear whether this move is made by the government under the pressure of environmental challenges or due to insufficient figures of entrepreneurs in this lane of business.

Procuring 8000 pigs from Punjab destination is a futile attempt by the government according to the opposition as under the new policy of pig breeding of the state enough effort has been implemented by the AH & VS department to make Nagaland self sufficient in the supply of pig products.

Chakhesang reminded the government on the introduce of 2000 policy on pig import ban made under its jurisdiction to boost local pig farmers’ business and it is in this regard has counteracted against the authority to place a high level committee meet to discuss on this decision before executing the import plan.
