Kaziranga Apart Encroachment Threat Looms In Four Assam National Parks


It is observed that within 5 year’s span four national parks of Assam experienced threats from encroachment due to which 99 elephants had lost their lives for battling into the human territory in search of food excluding Kaziranga.


Assam forest and environment minister Pramila Rani Brahma clarified that currently Nameri holds encroachment area of five sq km, Manas holds 31 sq km encroachment land, and Orang with 2.35 sq km.


According to the minister Pramila Rani if not for encroachment areas, animals would not in-filter into human zones causing panic to lives where animals holds higher casualty cases arising from train accidents, poaching, electrocution and poisoning cases during the phase of 2012 to 2016.



Encroachment has not only adversely impacted on animal lives but also on human lives and precious national treasure rhino horns during the phase of 2012-2016 according the minister Brahma.
