Incessant
rain has hit the normal life of entire Northeast of India, causing river
swelling due to which major scenario of landslide, erosion and flood havoc
countdown on lives have left life out of gear.
Almost
80000 people remain affected due to massive disappearance of land and
properties triggered by erosion due to increasing level of river bed. Extreme
rainfall in the month of July was predicted by weather forecast department but
such abnormal trigger of river swelling was unexpected.
Today
on 13th July, 2016 major landslides have hit many parts of Northeast like
Nagaland and Assam, bringing stall to road communication and loss to
properties. Stall of incessant monsoon rain havoc in the future is quite
unpredictable, till yet major economic districts like Jorhat, Nagaon, Dhemaji, and Lakhimpur of
Assam have not yet recovered.
According
to the analysis of Meghalaya and Assam weather departments, this scenario of
flood havoc followed by landslide and erosion, expected to persist due to
persistent cyclonic circulation.
NMMT
(Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura) comes under heavy monsoon rain belt
zone. Nagaland youth body ARSU (The Akuluto Range Students’ Union) are agitated
over communication disruption due to major landslide at NH 702 highway connecting Mokokchung
and Zunheboto on 13th July.
Nagaland
University Lumami comes under Zunheboto region, ARSU in observance to student's
plight has requested for immediate clearance of the NH 702 road to the EE (PWD)
Mokokchung.
Situation
due to rain in this connected zones have intensified that even light vehicles
could not ply over the alternative road, disrupting the life of normal people
who depends on the route to meet their ends.
