A notification has been issued declaring Behali Reserve Forest as wildlife sanctuary that is rich in diverse ranges of flora and fauna comprising an area of 140 sq km including Chenglijan RF.
This rich biodiversity forest Behali recognized to be as entomologist’s paradise due to rare species and varied numbers of explicit butterflies. Declaration of wildlife sanctuary to Behali RF could fight illegal logging and encroachment. It was the British way back in 1917 when Behali was declared reserve forest recognized slowly as similar resemblance to other sanctuaries in Assam.
