Edged in various platforms, DGP Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta is a cut above persona whose integrity is his strength under whom the entire scenario of Assam Police has changed.

 

He has the nuance in various fields as DGP Mahanta worked in varied departments under Union and Assam government police. The 1998 batch Assam- Meghalaya cadre IPS, Mahanta is extremely a brilliant persona who as a joint secretary had served in Ministry of Heavy Industries and Public enterprises, later rolling on to Additional Director General of Police of Administration, General of Training & Armed Police in Assam, Additional Director General of Police of Railway Police, Special Director General of Border including SP in several districts of Assam.

 

Variety carried with creativity is the essence of DGP Mahanta that helped him to notch prestigious award at Delhi International Short Film Festival 2013 for his Assamese short film ‘Yugadrashta.’ DGP Mahanta had made powerful work out against far fledged drugs network in Assam where in this effect had launched a book on ‘Substance Abuse & Recovery’ of 313 pages relating to social threat due to drug addiction.

 

Mahanta’s heroic deed in encouraging empowerment by boosting ‘Beeranga Commandos’ is to secure women in all sphere where they have highest threat. Rate of women crime in Assam is increasing due to which DGP Mahanta has emphasized such powerful task force like ‘Beeranga Commandos’ to help women to feel empowered.

 

DGP Mahanta has shouldered the highest task to give standard outlook of Assam Police stations for greater effectiveness on moral and quality output of police personnel in the latest initiative directed by Himanta Biswa Sarma government. Under previous DGP Kuladhar who had helped to strengthen the virtual world to minimize crime figure the running DGP Mahanta has dynamically influenced this team of police personnel to safeguard the virtual crime scenario.
