Superior mentality this young 26 years old Mira is the only weightlifting contender from India in Olympics who has to her credit many prestigious titles like Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna, 2018 and Padma Shri award for contribution to sports.

This small power packed lady Mira derived from Nongpok Kakching, imphal East is ranked No 1 in the list of weighlifters in Tokyo Olympic qualifiers is barely five feet who is trained under the coach Aaron Horching and Vijay Sharma

Earlier if any Indian had won medal in weightlifting is Karnam Malleshwari in 2000 Sydney Olympics with bronze. Mira’s debut in 2016 Olympic at Rio though was beyond mark but she had elevated  her quality by winning Asian Weightlifting Championship at Tashkent in April this year by creating clean & jerk world record.

Being at Olympic is every sports person’s dream where Mira Bai from Manipur, India had lived up to her hope by making India emerge at the second spot at medal tally with her silver medal.
