Lovlina Stunned India & Assam With Debut Olympic Medal In Boxing

Yesterday 29th July when the veteran national boxer Mary Kom went down 3-2 against Colombian player Ingrit Valencia, hopes of India winning medal in boxing was diminished when out of the blue Assam’s Lovlina Borgohain shone with 4-1 split decision against the fourth seeded World Champ Nien Chin Chen, Chinese Taipei..

Lovlina Borghain will make such swift cruise into Olympic boxing semi-final with such dynamic performance against Nien Chin Chen to avenge her previous defeat in her hands was unexpected. Maybe because tall and composed exterior of Lovlina never exposed her inner fire to conquer.

Challenge for Lovlina Borgohain to become more challenging when she has to put up with top seed Busenaz Surmenali, Turkey on 4th August at Women’s Welter Weight 69kg at Kokugikan in Tokyo Olympics. The 23 year old girl from Golaghat district Assam who brought hope to the state sports by being the first athlete to qualify for Olympics would go further with medal in this grand game that the world witness is exemplary job done.

Best of Lovlina is her kickboxing experience that she earlier started off as a career before entering into boxing  as those steps helped her to win against her tough opponent from Chinese Taipei. Word from Lovlina as that goes ‘boxing gave me the power to embrace failure’ due to which she is able to avenge back her defeats against Chin Chen. Three Cheers for this bronze lady Lovlina Borgohain who is meditating on gold finally at Olympics.
