‘Bhaona’ Assam’s Culture Is Under Pandemic Threat!

Popular ‘Bhaona’ or ‘Mythological play’ of Assam is strictly under pandemic threat as artisans and artists living on its earning now could not make their livelihood due to COVID protocol.

Season of ‘Bhaona’ could not be relished as before because major artisans and artists have to look for alternative to make their livelihood. Now if Assam government neglects then potential professionals depending on this lane of acting then ‘Bhaona’ could not survive.

This traditional costly business of ‘Bhaona’ costumes is under threat due to streamline of customers because of COVID-19 pandemic threat. To keep the valuable tradition of Assam the traders of ‘Bhaona’ costumes had to appeal the government to help them survive this business.

In the urge to keep state’s culture healthy a group of artisans and artists have requested the government to fast act to survive this dying culture under the stress of COVID pandemic as it is two years since they have been battling to survive this business.
